GLM 5.5 Release Date: Status & GLM 5.3 Pricing

GLM 5.5 has no official release date as of October 2026. See what Zhipu has confirmed, the dated GLM 5.5 rumor timeline, and GLM 5.3 API pricing to use now.

Model Insights

Short answer: GLM 5.5 has not been released. As of October 19, 2026, Zhipu (Z.ai) has not announced GLM 5.5, published a release date, or shared a model card, weights, API ID or price. The "August 2026" release date came from an analyst forecast, not from Zhipu, and that window passed without a launch.

What Zhipu did ship in August was GLM 5.3 (August 14) and its lighter Flash version (August 26). Both are available today on APIMart through the GLM API, with one API key.

If you only need the takeaway:

  • GLM 5.5 is still a rumor. Treat any specs, benchmarks or prices you see online as unconfirmed.
  • Use GLM 5.3 for coding, debugging and agent work, and 5.3 Flash for high-volume, low-cost jobs.
  • Don't wait for GLM 5.5 to ship a product. Switching later is a one-line model change.

Key Takeaways

  • GLM 5.5 is unreleased and unannounced as of October 19, 2026. There is no official GLM 5.5 release date.
  • The August 2026 date traces back to a JPMorgan research note reported by Reuters in late June 2026. Zhipu never confirmed it.
  • Social media "GLM 5.5 leaks" from July to September 2026 claimed 1T to 3T+ parameters and an August, then September, launch. None of it has been confirmed.
  • Instead of GLM 5.5, Zhipu released GLM 5.3 on August 14, 2026 and GLM 5.3 Flash on August 26, 2026.
  • On APIMart, GLM 5.3 costs $1.12 / 1M input tokens and $3.52 / 1M output tokens; 5.3 Flash costs $0.06 and $0.20.

GLM 5.5: What Is Confirmed vs What Is Rumor

QuestionConfirmed by Zhipu? What has been reported
Does GLM 5.5 exist?NoAnalysts and social media posts expect a next flagship called GLM 5.5, but Zhipu has publicly mentioned GLM-6.0, not 5.5
Release dateNoAugust 2026 (JPMorgan forecast), later "September" (social media)
ParametersNo1T+ (JPMorgan forecast), later 3T+ (social media)
Open weightsNoExpected by some, because recent models shipped open weights
BenchmarksNoLeak posts claim it beats top closed models, with no published results
API priceNoNo price has been published anywhere official

Zhipu has said two things on the record about what comes next. At its half-year results call on August 31, 2026, chairman Liu Debing said the next-generation base model is already in progress, and chief scientist Tang Jie described "self-evolution" as one research direction for GLM-6.0: a model that can judge for itself when to stop and when to correct itself (NBD via East Money). Neither gave a release date. Then, in a September 2026 filing, Zhipu said about 60% of a new $5 billion raise will fund research on its next-generation models and its fully self-training system (Reuters via The Express Tribune). It did not name the model.

GLM 5.5 Rumor Timeline

  • Late June 2026: A JPMorgan research note, reported by Reuters, said it expected GLM 5.5 to launch in August, potentially as a 1T+ parameter model (JPMorgan quote, Startup Fortune). Zhipu did not confirm it.
  • July 20 – August 2, 2026: Posts on X described a "GLM 5.5 leak", first at 1T+ parameters, then 3T+, claiming it would beat leading closed models. They offered no benchmarks or official sources (CellCog's dated tracker).
  • August 14, 2026: Zhipu released GLM 5.3, not GLM 5.5 (MarkTechPost).
  • August 26, 2026: Zhipu released GLM 5.3 Flash (MarkTechPost).
  • August 31, 2026: The forecast August window passed with no launch. On the same day, at Zhipu's half-year results call, Tang Jie named GLM-6.0 and "self-evolution" as a research direction, with no release date (NBD via East Money).
  • Early September 2026: New posts moved the rumored release to September. That window also passed.
  • September 13, 2026: Zhipu disclosed a $5 billion raise, mostly for next-generation model R&D, without naming the model.
  • October 19, 2026: Still no GLM 5.5 announcement, model card, weights or API.

Why Is There No GLM 5.5 Yet?

The simple answer is that Zhipu chose to ship GLM 5.3 in August instead. It reuses the GLM 5.2 base and improves through extended post-training, so it was a faster release than a brand-new flagship.

The version number itself is also a guess. "GLM 5.5" is the name analysts and leak posts used. The only next-generation name Zhipu has used in public is GLM-6.0, mentioned at its August 2026 results call without a date, so the next flagship may skip 5.5 entirely.

What to Watch for Before GLM 5.5 Launches

If you want to know the moment GLM 5.5 is real, watch for these official signals, not social media posts:

  1. An announcement on Zhipu's or Z.ai's official channels with a model name and date.
  2. A model card or weights under zai-org on Hugging Face.
  3. A model ID and price on Z.ai's developer docs and pricing page.

When Zhipu's next flagship becomes available through the API, whether it is called GLM 5.5, GLM-6.0 or something else, APIMart will list it on the GLM API page, and moving over will be the same one-line model change.

GLM 5.3: The Model You Can Use Now

GLM 5.3 is an upgrade of 5.2 rather than a brand-new model. According to Zhipu, it uses the same base model and improves through longer post-training focused on code.

What Zhipu published at launch:

  • Coding first. It shipped first through the GLM Coding Plan and works with coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenCode and Zhipu's ZCode.
  • About 50% better at coding than 5.2, by Zhipu's internal measurement.
  • Security work. Zhipu reports that the model helped security teams find 2,436 vulnerabilities across 269 open-source projects, and it published cybersecurity results such as CyberGym 84.5% and ExploitBench 54.4% (up from 24.4% for 5.2).
  • Open weights. Zhipu held the weights back for a safety review at launch and has since published them on Hugging Face.

Keep one caveat in mind: almost every number above comes from Zhipu itself. Zhipu's own comparison tables show it still trailing top closed models on several of the same benchmarks, and independent reproductions of these results are not yet complete. Test it on your own prompts before switching production traffic.

GLM 5.3 vs 5.3 Flash: Which One to Use

The two models split mainly by cost and depth.

QuestionPick
Multi-file code changes, refactoring, or debugging?GLM 5.3
Agent loops with tool calls where a wrong step is expensive?GLM 5.3
Classification, tagging, extraction, or summarization at scale?GLM 5.3 Flash
Routine chat or first-pass drafts where cost matters most?GLM 5.3 Flash

A common setup is to route easy steps to Flash and escalate only the hard steps to the full model. Because both share the same API format, that routing is a one-line change.

GLM API Pricing on APIMart

These are current APIMart prices in USD per 1M tokens (Gold member prices, October 2026). Check the GLM API page for live rates and member discounts.

ModelInput (per 1M tokens)Output (per 1M tokens)
glm-5.3$1.12$3.52
glm-5.3-flash$0.06$0.20
glm-5.2~$0.91~$3.20
glm-5.1$0.80$1.44
glm-5$0.80$1.28
glm-4.7$0.40$1.68

Two things stand out:

  • GLM 5.3 costs about 22% more on input and 10% more on output than 5.2, so if its coding gains hold up on your tasks, the upgrade is cheap.
  • GLM 5.3 Flash is roughly 18× cheaper on output than the full model, which makes it the obvious default for bulk work.

GLM 5.5 has no price yet, on APIMart or anywhere official.

How to Use GLM 5.3 on APIMart

APIMart

APIMart serves GLM 5.3, 5.3 Flash and older versions through one OpenAI-compatible endpoint: https://api.apimart.ai/v1. The same SDKs work across Python, Node.js and Java. To switch versions, change the model value to glm-5.3, glm-5.3-flash or glm-5.2. Billing is pay-as-you-go in USD. Request parameters are in the APIMart docs.

You can also pair it with other models on the same key, for example use it for planning and analysis, then a video or image model for generation, under one balance.
